Pink Floyd – A Saucerful Of Secrets LP Vinyl Record
Originally released in 1968, A Saucerful Of Secrets is the pivotal second studio album from Pink Floyd, marking a significant transitional phase for the band. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios between August 1967 and April 1968, this album bridges the psychedelic vision of Syd Barrett and the incoming influence of David Gilmour, who joined the group during the sessions.
The only non-compilation Pink Floyd album to feature all five members—Barrett, Gilmour, Waters, Wright, and Mason—A Saucerful Of Secrets is a landmark release. Gilmour appears on five of the album’s seven tracks, while Barrett contributes to three. The ethereal “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” is notable for being the sole track where all five members performed together.
From the sweeping soundscapes of the title track to Barrett’s poignant farewell in “Jugband Blues,” the album captures a band evolving in real time. Drummer Nick Mason has cited A Saucerful Of Secrets as his personal favourite from the Pink Floyd catalogue.
