And a film is only as good as it’s soundtrack so to have one of the most incredible composers working today, Ben Wallfisch, Shazam! was always destined to be iconic. A master of genre, and also impossible to pin down, his work on various films has established and confirmed that he can succeed at whatever he is thrown. Blade Runner 2049 is a masterclass in modern sci-fi. He redefined the sound of terror with his scores for IT, & IT: Chapter Two as well as with the recent Invisible Man. And most important of all he also has a playful side, which is no more present than in his ode to Williams and Goldsmith in Shazam! Just like the film, it is an immediate burst of energy, excitement and full of 80’s filmmaking sincerity.
