The Hobbit – The Key to Erebor 1:1 Scale Life-Size Prop Replica

From New Line Cinema, Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. comes J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, brought to the big screen in an epic trilogy. Weta Workshop was thrilled to return to Middle-earth once again, contributing design, specialty props and specialty costumes to all three films.

Few escaped the fire of the dragon Smaug when he fell with death and ruin upon the Dwarf realm of Erebor beneath the Lonely Mountain. Centuries later, the precious key to the secret passageway of the mountain kingdom would find its way into the hands of Thorin Oakenshield, the heir to Erebor—and with it, hope of restoring his throne.

This prop replica has been cast from moulds of the original prop. It is cast in metal (zinc alloy) and comes on a stand made of polyurethane. Large and heavy, it is the kind of key you just know would open something important.
