In 2016, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis teamed up with legendary drummer Tony Allen for a two-day session in a ’70s-style Paris studio. Initially expecting to create an Afrobeat record, the collaboration evolved into something far more eclectic, blending rock, funk, jazz, dub, and more. Alongside Allen’s regular collaborators, they crafted a handful of tracks that remained unfinished due to scheduling conflicts and Allen’s passing in 2020. 

Driven by a deep sense of duty, Yannis completed the project, resulting in the upcoming five-track EP Lagos Paris London, released under the Yannis & The Yaw umbrella. The EP captures the spirited, loose-grooved essence of their sessions, celebrating Allen’s influential legacy while providing a modern-day escape.
