Yacht Rock, or West Coast Sound, is a broad musical style and aesthetic from the mid 1970s to early 1980s. It incorporates elements of smooth soul, smooth jazz, R&B, funk and disco, featuring high-quality production, clean vocals, and light, catchy melodies. The name was derived from the genres association with the leisure activity of sailing.
