You Am I – Porridge & Hotsauce LP Vinyl Record (Red Coloured Vinyl)
For their tenth studio album, legendary Aus rockers You Am I hunkered down in a studio deep in New York City’s Bushwick. The resulting album, “Porridge & Hotsauce” is a head-rush of rocking tunes, tempered by songs that stretch beyond mere rock ‘n’ roll tomfoolery, showing off every element of Tim Roger’s genius song-writing.
An indisputably self-aware outfit, You Am I are not vying to be emblazoned on the front pages of cool. Nevertheless, “Porridge & Hotsauce” contains some of the strongest power pop belters of the band’s storied career. Here, guitarist Davey Lane makes his vocal debut on two songs (Out To The Never, Now and Buzz The Boss, both of which he also composed), both tracks enhancing the band’s essence and song writing diversity. This indicates that You Am I are identified by more than just Rogers’ voice. Rather, it’s the way the four personalities unite, slavishly committed to the songs and so close knit that they recognise how to turn one another’s imperfections into assets.
